In-clinic and at-home whitening

In-clinic whitening uses a stronger gel under supervision and takes about an hour. At-home whitening uses custom-made trays and a milder gel over one to two weeks. Both reach a similar end result; the clinic option is faster.

What whitening will not change

Whitening works on natural tooth enamel. It does not lighten crowns, veneers or fillings, so existing dental work may need replacing afterwards to match. Grey discolouration from tetracycline or a dead nerve responds poorly.

How long it lasts

Typically one to two years, depending on tea, coffee, and smoking. Occasional top-ups with your trays extend it.
